Puff print hoodies & sweatshirts

Add a raised printed detail to a hoodie or crewneck. Start with the shape and scale you want to see, then use a garment sample to agree the color, surface and feel.

Give the graphic dimension

Puff printing uses an expanding ink effect to lift the printed surface. It gives lettering and graphic shapes a rounded, tactile character. A reference photo can suggest the direction, but the height and finish need to be reviewed on an actual sample.

Decide whether the raised effect belongs across the whole graphic or only in selected areas. A compact chest wordmark and a large filled panel will feel different on the garment. The balance between the printed area and open fabric is part of the design.

Leave room for the shape

Mark the areas intended to puff and supply the original artwork at its proposed finished size. Pay particular attention to small lettering, tight spaces and fine outlines. These are details to review in the expanded result, rather than approving from a flat mockup alone.

Place the graphic on a garment drawing that shows the pocket, seams and zipper where applicable. Share the fabric and color direction too: the garment surface and the ink effect need to be assessed together.

Review the finished raised surface

Inspect a cured sample from the front and at an angle. Look at the shape of the lettering, open spaces, edges and consistency across the design. Compare the finished color with the agreed reference, since the raised effect can change its appearance.

Handle the decorated area and check how the surrounding fabric sits. Agree the expected care and appearance checks for your project before approving the sample for the next stage.
